What we say:

Set at the edge of a bare grassy lawn next to the river to the north of Maenam Kwai Road, the three-storey accommodation blocks at Camelia Resort are a little uninspired. To their credit, they're positioned so that all of the rooms offer brilliant views across the river, which can be enjoyed from the room's large balconies. Ask for a second or third floor room for the best views and more privacy. The starkly decorated rooms come with TVs and, while lacking charm, are clean, airy and bright. The resort has a large riverside swimming pool and a restaurant/bar with a pool table. WiFi is free and rates include breakfast. Camelia is popular with tour groups and while we felt welcomed, independent travellers may get second fiddle when it comes to service. Still, this is decent flashpacker value in a quiet spot towards the northern end of Maenam Kwai Road.

Not too bad

I ended up here because my preferred option was full. The room was 800 baht, which was a bit pricey but it did have a nice view of the river and a good pool.

Very Israeli

Camelia has now become an Israeli-only place, Israeli travellers arrive here on big chartered buses. Loud Israeli music plays day and night.
