Comfy choice for night owls
Another new edition to Kanchanaburi, Tara occupies a painfully bright yellow building above Snooker Bar.
All rooms are clean, spacious and equipped with soft, comfy beds and 32 inch LCD TVs. Rooms with shared bath are spacious and offer solid value for the money. The more upscale air-con rooms are decorated with Thai art work and offer loads of space, dark hardwood desks, safes, fridges and modern bathrooms with rainshower heads. WiFi is also free and works well. The catch is that live bands play nearby almost every night, so Tara is only suitable to those who plan on staying up late. We also thought it was funny that the place is billed as a “bed and breakfast” but only offers breakfast for an extra 100 baht per person. In early 2013, the owner told us she has plans to open Tara rafthouse soon -- it might be worth checking out because if they could get similar accommodation into a quieter location, we'd be sold.
