Spacious bungalows in a shady compound
Near the bus station, Thong Pha Phum T: (034) 599 088, (034) 599 035
Despite its location near the bus stop to the south of town, Baan Thong Yok is tucked along the river and feels like a rural retreat.
Its large wooden cabins are scattered throughout a gravel car park, under the shade of a canopy of giant trees. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with TVs, huge beds, and covered outdoor decks for lounging. Rooms are open and airy, and bathrooms are spotless. They also have an attractive outdoor restaurant, though opening hours seem irregular. The resort is named after a particular type of sweet made with black sesame, rice flour and coconut sugar and served with sweetened condensed milk -- be sure to give those a try while you're here. There's no English sign -- from the bus station head directly west towards the river and you'll walk straight into the resort. Very little English is spoken here.
