Mob Coffee & Guesthouse
No gangsters -- just good value

What we say:
Of the few hotels and guesthouses off the bus station parking lot, we found Mob to be the most inviting. It's named after the owner, so don't worry, you won't awaken to the sounds of rowdy mobsters gambling downstairs. What you will find here is a family-run atmosphere and large rooms that are adequate for a cheap night's sleep. All are spacious and well kept on the whole, although the bathroom we checked out was a little grimy, as was the odd balcony overlooking the parking lot with sliding glass doors. For the price, though, these rooms are solid value considering all come with free WiFi, air-con, TVs and hot water. Mob runs a small cafe downstairs and serves basic Thai food, coffee and Western breakfasts in the morning. This is a solid budget choice if arriving at the bus station too late to cross the border. Nearby Home Sweet Guesthouse offers similar accommodation but the staff there weren't friendly in the least.
