Tok's has smallish wooden huts climbing up the hillside behind the reception -- watch out as the climb can be treacherous, and the wooden steps up to a few huts are crumbling. Some of the huts higher on the hill have a reasonable view and despite being recently renovated, several are showing their age -- a sign of just how popular this place is. The simple blue huts are charming from the outside, though most are a bit worn on the inside, and some of the bathrooms are a bit dark and grotty, while the water from the taps is often dirty and brown. The rooms have large beds with clean bedding, and some have French doors with glass panels opening onto the balcony. It's worth shelling out a few baht extra for the newer rooms with their high A-frame roofs, as these are much cleaner and closer to the beach. The staff are young and friendly and a decent beachfront bar is home to lots of Thai gigolos preening for holidaying girls, though the restaurant is awful. Drinks specials and fire shows nightly. Given the prices and location, this is one of the best no-frills budget spots on the island. This place is strictly for walk-in business -- no reservations accepted. Recommended.

spotless and great location - 4th November, 2009
We moved to Tok's after Jep's where our room was damp and dark. We stated at one of the air-conditioned newly renovated bungalows near the beach for 1,500baht. It was beautiful, airy, spacious and spotless. Although old ones are available at 300baht but they are so rundown that I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there.

Cheap and cheerful - 25th December, 2008
We stayed here after Jeps and ended going back to Jeps!!
Its great value and a detached hut with own bathroom only costs 300b!!!
The only draw back is that the huts are very outdated and with gaping gaps in the floor, and a bathroom from a horror movie, you get what you pay for.
They are currently updating the huts (6 a year according to the owner) and its a complete nightmare to get across to your room. One of these next days someone will have a serious accident here.
Good for the hardcore traveler on a budget.

Great value, great beach. - 21st December, 2005
If you want a nice beach, you needn't go down to the south of Thailand, the southern beaches don't beat Koh Samet's! Tok's was great value (we paid 200B a night), the beds are enormous, could fit three or four! As we were in the cheaper ones up the hill, we sometimes had a problem with water pressure, but managed to wash our hair everyday (cold water). There's a lot of mosquitoes up the hill (same for the other two guesthouses on this beach), so take the usual precautions.
The beach has a great atmosphere, and good late bars. Restaurants are good (there's a lot of mosquitoes in Tok's restaurant at night so we went here in the day and Jep's in the evening). There's dogs on the beach like everywhere in Thailand but these are quite friendly and rabies free which is reassuring.
All the staff are extremely friendly here and at the other places on the beach. This place is the perfect beach holiday. Only negatives, the ubiquitous mosquito, and the hill is steep and dark at night so not suitable for people with impaired mobility and bring a torch!
