Description
Perched on stilts in the middle of the bay, Ban Ploy Samed is the most unusual accommodation on Ko Samet. Its wooden bungalows are arranged motel-like on a huge platform over the water while there are also a few rooms on the shore side of the resort. To reach it you ring a bell on the mainland that triggers a strange contraption that launches a boat to retrieve you and carry you to the platform. The platform houses a lovely communal chill-out area with openings in the floor through which to dangle your legs over water as you sip a fruit shake on a comfy mat. The rooms are immaculate and eclectic, with windows, private baths, large double beds and balconies. Guests can fish for squid at night off the deck. Location is an issue here, as the rooms in the bay are uncomfortably close to the ferryboat traffic. The restaurant offers Thai and western food along with fresh seafood, and it has a small bar and a pool table. Rates are well inflated though, so it may be more worth dropping by for a drink or a meal just to take in the ambience.

Samed Cliff Resort
Ao Noi Na, Ko Samet
As the name suggests, this resort climbs up the lush green hillside running back from the beach. Though the charming whitewashed bungalows are spacious, spotlessly clean and have a view, they are too close together. The rooms are set some distance from the beach, though many offer good views of the... more

Samed Club
Ao Noi Na, Ko Samet
With its funky orange bungalows and hip, offbeat style, the Samed Club is the closest thing to a boutique resort on this side of Ko Samet. Accommodation is divided by the road into two halves; rooms closer to the beach are set around a small turquoise pool, and the bungalows on the other side are... more
