The lovely dark-wood villas of Ao Prao climb the tropical hillside, and offer great views over the beach. Well kitted out, some of the 50-plus rooms are now a little long in the tooth and sombre, and nowhere near as stylish as some of the newer resorts. This was the first of the upmarket resorts to open on Ao Phrao, and it still gets a dedicated, mostly older European custom, particularly over the holiday season, but for true luxury it has been overshadowed by Le Vimarn at the other end of the beach. All rooms include ABF, boat transfer from pier, satellite TV, minibar and refrigerator. Be sure to ask after substantial discounts.
