Spacious wooden stilted bungalows with giant outside decks help to make long-running Vong Deuan Resort another reliable midrange favourite.
The bungalows at this sprawling yet quiet resort come in four different styles, each with its own private bathroom and terrace. Close to the beach are large Thai style bungalows built to look like traditional homes. Farther back are chic white villas, and scattered throughout the garden are the deluxe rooms in simple but stylish wooden bungalows. The vibrant decor in the rooms matches the varying themes of each different bungalow, and you can tell that these rooms were thoughtfully pieced together. Some have white walls and floors to go with light blue bed spreads and wall hangings; others have plush wooden walls along with soft lighting and four-poster beds draped in white cotton curtains. All rooms are equipped with air-con, fridge and large TV. A decent Thai barbecue is served on a wide wood terrace near a small but attractive swimming pool with ocean views. The polite, attentive staff and relaxed, comfortable setting keep many regular guests returning each year.
