What we say:

Don't be fooled by the sign advertising rooms for 300B outside -- that may as well be the hourly rate. The notice sums up the hotel pretty well, as the Diamond is largely for short-time liaisons and only the occasional passing tourist. The several floors of cool tiles and dark hallways have basic though reasonably-sized fan rooms as standard, with TV, hot water and other mod-cons costing more. The rooms are rather drab but comfortable, and many have views of the ocean. The rather depressing diner on the first floor serves Thai, Western and Chinese food. The restaurant and front desk are allegedly open 24 hours. Internet is available at 30B per hour.

Good enough

Arriving late at night and getting hosed out of a reservation at another hotel, my wife and I settled for the Diamond. It was clean enough and comfortable enough under the circumstances, and the 500 baht price was right.
