If you're a couple, you probably won't find a more romantic option on Haad Sai Kaew than the wood villas at Grand View.
With intricate northern Thai-style wood carvings, sumptuous dark wood interiors, elegant traditional Thai paintings, soft beds on four-poster frames draped in cotton curtains and large, semi-private porches with direct sea views, the bungalows are good value for the money -- at least for Haad Sai Kaew. Further back, superior rooms are less inspiring but still comfortable, spacious, clean and equipped with the same mod-cons as you'll find in the bungalows -- air-con, TV, fridge, safe and stylish bathroom. As these come with a choice of one king-size or two double beds, they're a good option for families. What appeared to be a fairly substantial buffet breakfast is complimentary and a polite staff add to the resort feel of the place. Grand View also operates a resort on Ao Cho, though for whatever reason it's not in the same league as this one. Midweek discounts are available.
