Description
Wooden walkways extend out over sand and water from the pier to attractive green huts on stilts. Like Dr Who's Tardis, they seem huge inside, with a fridge, Thai TV, plenty of windows, fan and a nice smell. Clean bathrooms have a hot shower and bucket flush toilet. A small plastic slide extends off the side of the jetty, for water play when the tide is high enough. It's a beautiful location, but overpriced, and the staff could certainly do with a refresher course at friendliness school.

Total rooms: 14

Bungalow fan private b'room
1,200 THB (low season) 1,600 THB (high season)
More on weekends

Wonderful place -

The location is the best possible, on the sea and off the main pier. Quiet. You can listen to the sea. Beautiful huts on stilts. Very clean and well tended.
And the people who attend the place are very kind and nice. I think there is no better place on Koh Chang.

Definetly Unique -

I stayed here for a couple days, and if you're in Bang Bao, it's definetly worth checking out. The rooms are bright and lovely, the views in the morning out over the water are wonderful, and you can brush your teeth as you watch the fish swim by outside your window. On the other hand, Bang Bao is no longer a quiet fisherman's village, and every morning at around 8 all the scuba boats leave from the pier which happens to be across from the Sea Huts. There's no beach, which makes long hot days somewhat torturous, and Bang Bao is pretty far from the rest of the island's life, so this is not a good place to have as a staging area for your explorations of Koh Chang. I enjoyed it for two nights, but after that I moved to a bungalow on the beach, where I payed a fifth of the price and had the beach at my door.

Have you stayed at Bang Bao Sea Hut? What did you think?
