Saffron on the Sea

Run by a wonderfully friendly and slightly eccentric man who has a keen eye for design, Saffron is a lovely Balinese-inspired boutique resort in an idyllic setting.

Each a little different from the next, the seven rooms blend terracotta and jet-black stone tiles, high rattan ceilings, crimson walls, elephant showerheads, wide windows and laterite stone terraces with hammocks and chairs. The rooms set further back are in a round two-storey tower with hardwood up top and polished cement below. All rooms are spacious and well kept, with air-con, fridges, TVs and soft beds on chunky bamboo frames with mosquito nets. Saffron's restaurant is well known to serve some of the island's best authentic Thai cuisine, artistically done and served on a wooden seaside deck surrounded by trees. The only thing missing is a sandy beach, though kayaks are free in case you feel like paddling to one.
