High-end digs with style and class

At the far southern end of Haad Sai Khao (the beach itself), the ChangBuri has a private beach raised above a seawall -- it's a little rocky closest to shore but smoothes out fast.
Of course, you might not feel like spending much time in the ocean thanks to the resort's smashing infinity pool, jacuzzi and "plunge canal" that snakes alongside the priciest villas. You'll also find relatively large jacuzzis inside many of the rooms, including the deluxe suite that we checked out. It had a fresh minimalist style with wide windows, spacious terrace with sea views, plush bathroom and all of the fixings you'd expect -- desk, safe, LCD TV, fridge; they even throw in electric curtains. The villas are set around the massive pool and are good honeymooning material, but note that the cheapest "hillside" rooms are in a separate section on the other side of the road, so no sea views and a little walk to the sand. Along with a coffee shop, restaurant, limousine service and very polite staff, the resort offers what's reputed to be a great spa. Note that rates on the resort's website are a tad lower than the walk-in rates listed below.
