While strolling from one side of this massive resort to the other, you can't help but feel that it's a little greedy of it to hog the entire brilliant northern end of White Sand beach.
This is arguably the single best location on the island -- a wide and remote stretch of fine sand with thin crowds and lush green hills rising up behind. Though it takes up at least as much space as KC Grande, the rooms are spaced further apart and the vibe blends well into the backpacker village just down the beach. Both the punk rock-style receptionist and bellhop wearing Converse All Star sneakers had wistful attitudes that suited the laidback mood. Rooms come in 11 different varieties, but most are orange wood bungalows perched directly over the sand, each with air-con, TV, fridge, firm bed, mosquito net, hot water bathroom and porch. The location makes these a touch more expensive than you might expect. Along with beach houses that have multiple bedrooms, the resort offers attractive yellow villas with high ceilings and big windows. We appreciated how White Sand hasn't gone the way of so many other large resorts by erecting enormous concrete blocks with cookie -cutter rooms -- all accommodation here is in the form of detached bungalows or villas. It's a fair hike to the main road from here.
