If ever there were a competition to decide the bungalow operation with the most creative decor in Thailand, Independent Bo would be on the shortlist of winners.
Murals on the side of every wall, decorations eclectically drawn from all corners of the globe and a generous use of red and yellow make independent Bo a sight to behold. The guesthouse is anchored around a giant boulder that fronts a great chunk of beach, with stairways, hammocks and chill spaces tucked around every corner. All 10 rooms are simple and charming, each a little different from the next, but all with windows and flourishes of recycled art. Be aware however that the rooms here are built up an extremely steep hillside, with the furthest rooms being quite a huff up steep stairs. The place attracts tattooed bohemian types, including many return long-stay customers, but Bo and his brother Taer are welcoming and not pretentious at all. True to the name, Independent Bo relies exclusively on walk-ins, with no pre-bookings or even a phone to speak of.
