Chang Bar
Loud and proud

What we say:
Just north of KC Grande Resort, the Chang Bar is a loud-and-proud testament to the principal that backpackers can still find somewhere cheap to stay on White Sands Beach. The owner's name is Chang and it's also the bar's bestselling brew. The reasonable prices and anything-goes atmosphere attract a steady stream of revellers. The simple thatched huts on the side of a cliff behind the bar and are accessed by rickety staircase that looks like it was designed by MC Escher. They have a small but acceptable menu of Thai food and western sandwiches, though the service slows right down if they have to deal with more that three customers at a time ... despite there being four or five staff! Happy Hour runs 20.00 -- 22.00 with promotions such as vodka redbull 'buy 1 get 1 free', and 99B cocktails.

Great little beach bungalows
These little beach bungalows: simple, inexpensive and on the best location of White Sand Beach. Good restaurant with friendly and English speaking staff. Basic rooms, but comfortable beds. Many have a small veranda overlooking a beautiful stretch of sand beach. Step from you bed to the sand. Great spot.
