The northernmost of a string of small resorts at the centre of White Sand beach, Tantawan offers two room types that each have some good and bad qualities.
Set back from the beach and clustered around a gravel parking area with a few palm trees and a fountain, air-con villas are tastefully done in traditional Thai style with classy wooden walls and high gabled roofs. Smack on the beach sits a few bland orange brick blocks that house fan rooms with absolutely no character. The juxtaposition between elegant and utilitarian is strange, but either choice is very spacious and perfectly comfortable. All rooms come with TV and fridge, but only the villas have safes. Though they lack porches, the fan rooms have a few screened windows and stay nice and cool thanks to the direct sea breeze and cavernous design. The villas have big glass windows and large wood terraces with tables, though unfortunately no direct sea views.
