What we say: 3 stars

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Chang Park -- well, concrete elephant statuary in the entrance aside -- but it's pretty clear that this is the kind of resort that appeals mainly to Thais visiting on package deals. Nevertheless it's a preferred option to neighbouring Cliff Beach. Chang park has larger grounds, newer facilities and a better pool. Rooms however are nothing special -- the main hotel's rooms are hardly spacious, and the bathrooms are tiny. The balcony is a touch better, but for this kind of money you expect so much more. A better option, but far more expensive are the two colonial houses sitting on the beach. They have been converted, one into a British style and the other French style. They're great for a family or large group, and sit literally metres from the shoreline. It's not that cheap, but then again where else can you find a 200 year old house for rent within 10 metres of the sea? Pleasantly designed wooden bungalows are also available but on closer inspection they're pretty dingy and run down. Better deals can be found elsewhere.
