Another example of an older resort being done up to attract higher paying guests, Siam Bay is the best in the chain of Koh Chang Siam guesthouses. On a small promontory with a secluded sandy beach, newly-built square white bungalows are dominated by the large white hotel behind them. This blocks the beach view of the mountains, but provides a sea and island panorama for the occupants. The white bungalows are quite funky, with modern Thai design elements, and boast air-con, Thai TV and a hot shower. On the rocky side of the promontory -- and the beautifully designed swimming pool -- the older bungalows are all but replaced now, bar a few left for staff. The prices here have doubled in the past few years due to high demand.
