Teensy compact cottages are packed into a small garden space over which the balconies have green views. Rooms are pleasant enough with Thai TV, fridge, phone and a natural-look stone paved bathroom with hot shower and basic toiletries. Whilst the bathrooms are ok, they have slight outdoor feel with an open roof and encroaching foliage. Prices can be a little flexible, so it is definitely worth giving bargaining a go. The resort has a full massage, body treatment and hydro treatment menu, with treatments ranging from a one hour Thai massage for 400B to a 30 minute fresh herbal steam for 200B. There's a pleasant eatery here also serving traditional Thai -- it receives good reviews from locals. The whole place is very Thai, very rustic and will please those who want something to remember. Those who want modern spotless luxury should look elsewhere. Prices include breakfast. The entrance is directly opposite VJ Plaza.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. Great Restaurant, central location - 6th December, 2005
Ate there (15 times!), but not sleep, because it is on the highway not the beach. Super restaurant and BBQ too. Good location centre on island, with good internet cafe at supermarket, good travel and dive shops, and mall with great English breakfasts.
