Description
A range of housing options are available at Khlong Prao Resort. Mostly popular with Thais on holiday, old-style bungalows with decent amenities such as fridge, satellite TV, phone and air-con are the cheapest (although still very expensive), while VIP rooms are newer, larger and more modern. A variety of facilities are available on site, including a swimming pool, private lagoon and fitness centre. All rates include breakfast.

We went to Koh Samui in search of lovely palm fringed beaches with clear water and were bitterly disappointed - but not with klong prao beach. The bay has a clean beach, turquoise sea and lots of swaying palms: 10/10. The resort itself is nicely laid out with a pretty lagoon full of enormous fish and the VIP3 rooms we stayed in were large (although all twin bedded) with great bathrooms. Our only criticism really (considering it is a large resort and we went at Christmas, a peak time) was the food. The breakfast buffet is just OK but the evening meals, either Thai or Western dishes, were a constant disappointment. The waiters were always friendly and polite but the dishes were mediocre and there were several mix ups with orders and long delays. So we headed north up to Lay Lay Tong for lunch and supper - a wooden hut under the trees with bamboo tables and chairs on the sand that served great Thai food. PS:The ''Thaifun'' boat for 999 baht is well worth it, the snorkling was great and good food too - a recommended day trip.
