The long-running Paradise might not have the catchiest name, but it continues to deliver quality high-end accommodation with friendly service on a beautiful beach.
Unlike many of Ko Chang's newer upscale resorts, all of Paradise's rooms come in the form of detached villas -- so no ugly concrete blocks. It's easy to lose yourself in the maze of footpaths that wind through lush greenery from villa to villa. Like the staff, rooms are pleasantly unpretentious. Tasteful touches include woven bamboo panels between light wood trim, shiny hardwood floors, bright cushions and fresh-cut tropical flowers in vases, but the rooms also possess a simple beach house air. Along with spacious terraces, each comes with TV, desk, safe, fridge, air-con and what appeared to be new state-of-the-art appliances in the large bathrooms. The cheaper villas towards the back of the resort are close enough to the main road, which is not so beautiful, to hear the trucks and motorbikes pass by. If that bothers you, one look at the magnificently long swimming pool that spills on to the beach should turn things around in a hurry.
