The Beach Resort
Quiet retreat with great staff

What we say:
This property needs to sort out their signposting as it's sometimes The Beach Resort and others The Beach Natural Resort. Regardless of which name you go with, this very popular joint offers strikingly similar fare to their neighbour just to the north, Koh Kood Resort, but at higher rates and we weren't convinced of the extra value. They have a variety of rooms from quite aged wooden bungalows to newer "earthern style" concrete bungalows towards the rear. There's plenty of shade to keep the punters cool on their front verandas. We visited twice, once at late morning and once at lunch, and both times the place was a bit of a madhouse and we were told we couldn't see a room. In the end we pretended to be a guest to have the cleaners let us into a room and it is solid fare for the money. We found the staff and the vibe at Koh Kood Resort to be more favourable and the online rates for The Beach Resort are significantly higher than what they'll give you walk-in.

We what to go back!!!
Can't recomend this place enough. Out of all the 11 places we stayed during our 7 weeks in SEA this took the prize! Food great, accommodation wonderful, beach beautiful, massage divine, etc... but what really made this place stand out was the WONDERFUL staff! Mr O and his crew felt like friends at the end of our stay. Not least to our 3 kids, especially our 3 year old son, who had a special connection to several members of staff. We stayed for 6 days - but could easily have stayed twice as long. Sad to leave - just want to go back!!!

Beautiful resort, lovely staff
Stayed here alone . Far from wanting only package tourists the owners tell me they are wanting more independent travellers - in fact I am not sure they do packages any more. The gardens of the resort are beautifully maintained, and although I stayed in the cheapest room available it was very pleasant. The prices is, however, not cheap. I was a bit dissappointed that the resort has only a small beach except at low tide, but one can easily walk along to the beach of the Siam Beach resort a couple of minutes away though in practice it was fine swimming from the resort. The staff, from the owner/manager to the most junior were delightful and helpful, and almost all spoke some English, and some spoke excellent English. I was worried that the resort was too cut off from the rest of the island when I arrived, but found it possible to walk through unspoiled forest to other beaches of this wonderful island. Had an impromptu motorbike tour from one of the staff. Heaven.
