Fronting a great stretch of beach that's a 10-minute stroll from the village, Nature Beach has some ups and downs.
The cheapest log cabin style fan bungalows are quite inviting, with thatch roofs, decent porches, high ceilings, several windows, firm beds and hot water bathrooms. Mosquito nets are absent, but windows are screened. The bungalows are set around a sandy area shaded by abundant trees -- no sea views but the beach is less than a minute walk away. The rather spartan air-con villas have TVs, which is a good thing because the rooms themselves lack character. Though we really liked the fan bungalows and the stylish thatch-roofed restaurant with floor cushions and sofas spread over a chill-out loft, the receptionist who "greeted" us was extremely apathetic. When we asked to see a room for the next day, she mumbled something without even looking up from her computer. When we asked again, she gave us a glazed look as if to say, "Please just go away". It's not that her attitude was nasty or even annoyed, just totally indifferent -- all of our questions (and those of a guest) received short, monotone replies that lacked any hint of enthusiasm. Maybe she was just having a rough day.
