Windy Guesthouse
Nothing special

What we say:
Like most guesthouses in Trat, Windy was once a private house. Backing on to the river it receives a decent breeze and view, though there may be mosquito issues. The newly built walkway along the river has added a new dimension and the owners have a tiny boat you can borrow if you fancy heading upstream. Rooms are clean and basic, with shared bathroom and hot shower. There are no common seating areas, but an open kitchen has some coffee making facilities.

Improved?
This place ''used'' to look like it was sliding into the river. Not anymore. This used to be the place in town with the most character (in my opinion), despite all the mosquitoes and its crumbling state. Two of the rooms opened onto a riverside deck that looked across the canal/river to thick palms on the other side. It was a great place to spend the evenings in a hammock, watching fishermen glide by in their boats well into the night. Since the new cement ''riverwalk'' has been constructed, Windy seems to have been given new life. The building looks to have been reinforced and tidied up a bit. However, there's now a lit cement walkway between the balcony and the river, and for some reason the palms that once lined the other side of the canal have been ripped out. It's still a good place to stay, though the management can be a bit too relaxed. No restaurant.
