Guy Guesthouse
Great backpacker spot, but not sparkling clean

What we say:
There are occasionally cleanliness issues at Guy Guesthouse, but if you're looking for cheap good value, it's a decent spot. Very popular with the backpacker crowd due to their vast number of rooms, they offer a number of services including ticket sales, food and drink, laundry and a guests' discount for the internet. Fairly friendly staff combined with good priced rooms, serve to distract from the fact that the sheets are a little stained, even fresh out of the wash. The walls were at least recently repainted. The guest house sits aside the canal and there is a small access point to the canal-side path and a small jetty. They do have a few kayaks in the vicinity for those who want to explore.

Good value, friendly place
My air-con room was sparkling clean. Friendly staff. Paid 300 baht with air, color tv, hot water and free WiFi. Very good location. It was just too hot to go without AC, but the fan rooms are an even better bargain. Would definitely stay again.

Mr Scam
We did not stay in the guesthouse itself, so we can't review on that. But we did book tickets with them to travel across the border of Cambodia to Sihanoukville. We want to warn people for that. It did not work out quite well. The guy from Guy guesthouse at the border, called Mr Sam, ripped us a lot of money. While accusing us the whole time of distrust and us beiing arrogant. Its not a nice feeling entering a country like that. You really start to distrust people, who are perfectlly allright. And the money is so much more needed by poor, less doggy people. So think twice before booking with them. First of all it costs a lot of money. And you really can't trust the people who work for it.

No cleanliness issues, and nice otherwise too
Guy Guesthouse is a nice, relaxed spot and a good choice for anyone staying in Trat. We paid the 300 baht for an AC double room and ended up staying for 3 nights. We didn't notice any issues with cleanliness such as are described above. Perhaps the rooms aren't as spotless as in some other guesthouses, but certainly not dirty either. The owners are helpful and pleasant and trust their customers enough to let them write down their own purchases, which is nice. There's an okay selection of food too.
