Description
Owned by the local entrepreneur, Pop Guesthouse is a rapidly expanding empire encompassing not just guesthouses but a bar, massage parlour, internet cafe and book exchange. Rooms at the main guesthouse are decent and set in a simple garden. Some air and some fan, newer rooms are cosily done up with amenities such as English tv and decent mattresses. Pop Guesthouse is often full, but if not you'll be met getting off the bus by aggressive touts, and it's worth trying to bargain for a discount.

Nothing special, but OK -

Room was OK with TV, but A/C room was overpriced at 450 Baht. Lots of mosquitoes in the bathroom. Good location, good for a stopover on the way to/from Ko Chang, but nothing to write home about. I'd opt for the fan room next time.

POP Guesthouse -

I stayed here not once, not twice, but three times during my travels. This place is great, these are my friends, I consider them almost family. The owners will go to all means to assure your comfort, everything is affordably budget, the kids on property are pleasant and great, it is a warmly welcoming place for the TRAVELLER, not the TOURIST. Those who are tourists don't understand a truly wonderful place and will complain about everything no matter the truth. That being said, POP Guesthouse Rules, I'll be back on my way to Cambodia this winter. It will be nice to see my smiling friends again, this is a home away from the home I don't have.

Okay rooms, but avoid -

Got a double fan room with bathroom for 250B. The room was okay, but not the cleanest. You can have better at most other guesthouses in Trat for the same price.

I have to say I was very dissatisfied with the place. The owner sold us tickets for the boat from Koh Kong to Sihanoukville, absolutely guaranteeing we will make the boat when he dropped us off at the bus station in the morning. However, the minibus he directed us to waited for more customers for so long that we were at the border at 8 AM sharp and obviously missed the boat. There was also no-one from the boat/bus company to meet us on the Cambodian side for free transport to the pier, like he had promised.

Good spot for passing thru... -

We stayed here on our way thru to Cambodia. The room was a little pricey for what you get, but the air-con was worth it. The staff wasnt the friendlist, but we found this alot in this area. The room was clean and a good place to crash for the night, they had good internet close by and the restaurant looked good even thought we didnt eat there.

Ban Jaidee Guesthouse
67-69 Chaimongkol Rd, Trat
Basic but very clean and simple rooms in an old but refurbished house, make Ban Jaidee a better option than most of the other basic guesthouses in town. The French/Thai owners have created a homey space, with very clean white sheets on the beds and towels supplied. All rooms share bathrooms with... more

S.A. Hotel
Trat town
On the other side of Trat from all the other small Guesthouses, S.A. Hotel is a large, square unexciting building holding old fashioned but clean and well kept rooms. A choice of fan or air-con, all with private bathrooms, western toilets and English language television. Fan rooms have cold... more

Garden Home Guesthouse
87/1 Rad-anuson Rd, Trat
Despite the fact that this is probably the cleanest of the cheap places in Trat, and has a lovely garden sitting area, they do not seem to have a lot of customers. This is most likely due to the fact that they are not aggressive marketers like some of the other more prominent guesthouses in town.... more

Trat Guesthouse
Trat town
In a quiet laneway just off the main street, Trat Guesthouse is a lovely wooden Thai style house which has been well looked after particularly compared to others in town. Rooms are basic and quite dark with shared bathroom and hot shower. Although there's a sitting area set up with tables and... more

Guy Guesthouse
82-86 Thanajaroen Rd, Trat
There are a few cleanliness issues at Guy Guesthouse, but if you're looking for cheap good value, it's a decent spot. Very popular with the backpacker crowd, they offer a number of services including ticket sales, food and drink, laundry and a guests' discount for the internet. Fairly friendly... more

Residang Guesthouse
87 1-2 Soi Thanacharoen Rd, Trat
Residang Guesthouse has been around for many years, and the walls tell the story. A new coat of paint would do the job, but this probably isn't going to happen any time soon. Large rooms are a bit musty, with a shared bathroom featuring a squat toilet and solar shower (which is really not too... more

Friendly House
106 Lakmuang Rd Trat
Spartan, but pretty clean, Friendly house is an old family home that has been opened up to take guests. Small basic rooms hold nothing but a bed and a fan with shared bathroom facilities. The family offers a laundry service and sells tea, coffee and drinks as well as local trips and... more

Trad Hotel
40 Vitchitchanya Road
The old Chinese style building feels like an ancient hospital or possibly a prison, just older and grottier. Fan rooms feature a small tv broadcasting in Thai, a surprisingly soft bed and a Thai style toilet with cold shower. Air-con rooms are a better option, being a little more modern with better... more

Dream Guesthouse
33-35 Lak Muang Rd, Trat
This friendly little spot is set in an old wooden house a short walk from the market and songtheaw stop. Rooms are small, but very clean and all have shared bathroom facilities (also very clean). There is a comfortable upstairs common area where you're welcome to relax. Street noise may bother... more

Sawaddee Guesthouse
90 Lakmuang Road
Above an internet cafe, Sawaddee Guesthouse has a handful of small, clean rooms all with shared bathroom. The shiny, polished wood of the floorboards and walls is very well maintained, and there are some nice touches, but they are still not worth the higher price compared with other available... more

Windy Guesthouse
Trat town
Like most guesthouses in Trat, Windy was once a private house. Backing on to the river, Windy looks to be almost sliding into the river nowadays. Rooms are clean and basic, with shared bathroom and hot shower. There are no common seating areas, but an open kitchen has some coffee making... more

Jame Guesthouse
45/1 Lak Muang Rd, Trat
An old house hidden town a tiny narrow laneway off one of the main streets, Jame Guesthouse is a private home that's been opened up to take guests. The handful of basic rooms all share bathroom facilities, and are a good option for those on a tight... more
