• Beware

  Beware of their travel services. They were charging 80 baht for a ferry ticket (Center Point Ferry) with a face value of 50 baht. Restaurant service was practically non-existent. Check the other guest houses for travel services and venture out for some great food values in Trat.

• Decent but nothing special

  Stayed at Pop Guesthouse for one night on my way to the islands, in one of the rooms up the street from the main office. Decent room, clean, mostly bug-free. Curtains don't close completely, which is problematic. Within walking distance of 'downtown'. Only real problem was that I bought a boat ticket from them and was told that they would arrange a songthaew from the office to the pier, but the call was never made and I almost missed the boat after arranging my own transport. 250baht per night seems overpriced compared to other places in Trat.

• Perfectly Adequate

  Staying at Pop's is like eating at Denny's Restaurant. You don't go here on purpose but instead just sort of wind up here. That is definitely what happened to us when the guesthouse where we intended to stay seemed to have closed. We picked up a comfortable, reasonably clean fan room with hot shower in one of the nearby annex buildings for 250 baht. It was nothing special, and pretty much designed to meet the needs of folks passing through on their way to the islands, which is exactly what we were doing. The guy sitting at the travel desk quickly lost interest in us when we weren't looking to purchase a speed boat ticket from him, but the folks at the restaurant were friendly and served up great food. Try the french fries! As noted above, Pop is the only guest house still working the bus station to drum up business. Perfectly adequate, but I'd likely try to pick a place with a bit more style next time through town.

• Nothing special, but OK

  Room was OK with TV, but A/C room was overpriced at 450 Baht. Lots of mosquitoes in the bathroom. Good location, good for a stopover on the way to/from Ko Chang, but nothing to write home about. I'd opt for the fan room next time.

• POP Guesthouse

  I stayed here not once, not twice, but three times during my travels. This place is great, these are my friends, I consider them almost family. The owners will go to all means to assure your comfort, everything is affordably budget, the kids on property are pleasant and great, it is a warmly welcoming place for the TRAVELLER, not the TOURIST. Those who are tourists don't understand a truly wonderful place and will complain about everything no matter the truth. That being said, POP Guesthouse Rules, I'll be back on my way to Cambodia this winter. It will be nice to see my smiling friends again, this is a home away from the home I don't have.

• Okay rooms, but avoid

  Got a double fan room with bathroom for 250B. The room was okay, but not the cleanest. You can have better at most other guesthouses in Trat for the same price. I have to say I was very dissatisfied with the place. The owner sold us tickets for the boat from Koh Kong to Sihanoukville, absolutely guaranteeing we will make the boat when he dropped us off at the bus station in the morning. However, the minibus he directed us to waited for more customers for so long that we were at the border at 8 AM sharp and obviously missed the boat. There was also no-one from the boat/bus company to meet us on the Cambodian side for free transport to the pier, like he had promised.

• Good spot for passing thru...

  We stayed here on our way thru to Cambodia. The room was a little pricey for what you get, but the air-con was worth it. The staff wasnt the friendlist, but we found this alot in this area. The room was clean and a good place to crash for the night, they had good internet close by and the restaurant looked good even thought we didnt eat there.
