Submukda Grand Hotel
Friendly and clean

What we say:
Another recent arrival to Mukdahan, the Submukda Grand opened at the beginning of 2006. It's right in the heart of town, just two minutes walk from immigration and a single block from the river and the Indochine market. The rooms are clean and airy with lovely big beds made of solid wood. All rooms have air-con, a balcony and a good television. There's no internet, not a restaurant, but it's a clean, friendly and conveniently located choice that makes the established but decrepit Huanam hotel look like a shed. If you're bringing your own vehicle, the Submukda has it's own covered car park.

As they say in realestate - location, location, location
I decided to try out Submukda Grand Hotel even though SC Residence had high reviews - mostly because Submukda GH was in the middle of town. The room was very large, well laid out, good facilities, big comfortable bed. As well, there was even a balcony where I could crane my neck for a view of the river. I also felt the place was very secure which is nice after spending a few weeks in bungalows and what not. If you're going to stay in Mukdahan you really shouldn't stay far from the Indo-China market and this place is right on top of it. Just around the corner is a place to change money if you are crossing over from Laos and need some Baht, and if you go to the intersection just south of the hotel you'll find a nice restaurant (the second one over on the southwest corner). The staff speak some English, but are not really enough to be helpful - if you need some advice around town try Goodmook* Coffee house by the immigration office. Recommended - though it could be again that all those nights in Laos Guesthouses made me forget how to judge a normal hotel.
