Submukda Grand Hotel
Friendly and clean

What we say:
Submukda Grand is right there with SC Residence in terms of value and functionality, and its central location make it worth the extra 100 baht if you don't mind a bit of morning traffic noise. Submukda is literally right in the heart of town, just two minutes' walk from immigration and a single block from the river, Indochine market and the night market. On our last visit, someone was apparently so fond of the location that they were preparing for a huge wedding reception on a closed stretch of Samut Sakdarak Road right in front of the hotel. Although they too lack character, the rooms at Submukda are clean and airy with large, firm beds made of solid wood. All rooms have air-con, WiFi, hot water, a balcony and a good television. Staff speak limited English and there's no restaurant on-site, but no shortage of eating options surround the hotel on all sides. If you're bringing your own vehicle, the Submukda has its own covered car park.

Good hotel for 400 Bhat
Centrally located hotel with clean rooms, wi-fi Internet, balcony, own bathroom. We paid 400 B for 1 night. Really worth the price, recommended. In the lobby there is free coffee.

As they say in realestate - location, location, location
I decided to try out Submukda Grand Hotel even though SC Residence had high reviews - mostly because Submukda GH was in the middle of town. The room was very large, well laid out, good facilities, big comfortable bed. As well, there was even a balcony where I could crane my neck for a view of the river. I also felt the place was very secure which is nice after spending a few weeks in bungalows and what not. If you're going to stay in Mukdahan you really shouldn't stay far from the Indo-China market and this place is right on top of it. Just around the corner is a place to change money if you are crossing over from Laos and need some Baht, and if you go to the intersection just south of the hotel you'll find a nice restaurant (the second one over on the southwest corner). The staff speak some English, but are not really enough to be helpful - if you need some advice around town try Goodmook* Coffee house by the immigration office. Recommended - though it could be again that all those nights in Laos Guesthouses made me forget how to judge a normal hotel.
