Mae Nam Kong Grand View Hotel
The flashest digs in town

What we say:
Easily the flashest digs in town, the 112 room Mae Nam Kong Grand View Hotel sits on the bank of the Mekong about a kilometre south of downtown Nakhon Phanom. Like other hotels in town, the rooms and hallways all have very low ceilings, giving it a bit of a claustrophobic feel, though at least all the rooms have small verandas from which you can relieve the tension while looking over the Mekong. Deluxe rooms have a small veranda with a view, tv, aircon and hot water, which come together to form a pretty good value flashpacker's option. The attached restaurant is the best placed in town with a fine location overlooking the river.

old style charm and great views
I stayed for three nights and had to pay 900 Baht for a nice corner room on the fourth floor. Huge windows and a terrace- superb views of the Mekong and beach. The hotel is not new but offers oa lot of charme. The restaurant next door serves excellent seafood. I had no problem with the fact that the hotel is located a bit far from the city center because I had my bicycle with me.
