Description
Advertising The Lowest Price in Town, (which it isn't), this grungy establishment offers little to keep you from the better choices down the street. Hallways are dark and have a deserted college dorm feel. Rooms are a step up from Potong, but see a few as they vary in size and aesthetic. There is a bar -- which the management refers to as a 'coffee shop' -- on-site and the hotel advertises barber and massage services, but it is not clear where those services take place. Chumphol and Potong are a dying breed of accommodation in Khorat as the city upgrades its standards.

Potong Hotel
652 Ratchadamnoen Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Centrally located just across from Suranaree Monument, Potong is certainly inexpensive. Rooms are dirt-cheap and unfortunately, the old adage holds true here and you really do get what you pay for. Tile floors are cracked and altogether missing in places. Bathrooms seem to have been repurposed for... more
Tokyo Mansion
329 - 333 Suranaree Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Not to be confused with Tokyo Hotel across the street, rooms here have a touch of character you might not expect for the price. Though the stairwell is dark, rooms are cheerful with chequered tile floors and wrought iron windows. Colourful bedspreads decorate the rooms and each comes with a... more
Sansabai House
335 Suranaree Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Neighbour to Tokyo Mansion, Sansabai has a brighter feel and some refreshing touches, though the two are similar in amenity and price. With a pretty pink exterior and welcoming reception, Sansabai's rooms have a lot to live up to. Fortunately, they deliver. Well-sized and simply decorated, all have... more
Thai Hotel 1 & 2
664-650 Mittraphap Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Brightly painted Thai Hotel 1 stands directly in front of ... wait for it ... Thai Hotel 2. Rooms in the two establishments are comparable in comfort and cost. While those in Thai Hotel 2 have a bit more character with archways and colourfully tiled bathrooms, the building is dark and dreary,... more
Siri Hotel
688-690 Pho Klang Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima
The Siri is a comfortable and convenient choice, located close to the train station and good restaurants. With major renovations completed in 2007, all rooms have air-con, hot water, cable TV, fridge, and turquoise leatherette couches. Twin rooms have an eating area and two queen beds separated by... more
Thai Inter Hotel
344/2 Yommarat Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima
Opened late, 2007 on busy Yommarat Rd., this small hotel fills an accommodation void in the area. Surrounded by a vibrant nightlife and picturesque restaurants, Thai's mint green façade and dark lettering exude a simplicity sometimes forgotten in Thai hotels. The hip lobby with designer... more
M in Korat
86 Soi Lamparu 2, Suranari Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima
Though many of these units are rented out as apartments, this tidy spot tucked behind Friends Bar usually has rooms to let. Accommodations are simple and clean and all rooms have air-con, cable TV, fridge, and hot water. Glossy tiled floors reflect the natural light that pours in from huge balcony... more
Srivichai Hotel
9-11 Bua Rong Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
With its attractive lobby and adorable café, this self-titled nicest boutique hotel in town, does much to lure you in. Unfortunately, once inside, you'll see it resembles just about every other average midrange hotel in Khorat. Carpeted rooms are nice enough, but don't stand out from others... more
Korat Hotel
191 Atsadang Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
In the centre of the city, this pleasant hotel boasts a good location and comfortable rooms. All have hot water, air-con, and fridge, but differ in price according to size. The standard rooms are crowded, but deluxe models are quite spacious. Bathrooms are squeaky clean but some feature tacky pink... more
K.H. Chaophaya Inn
62/1 Chom Surang Yat Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima.
K.H. is your average large-scale aging Thai hotel in its slightly worn carpeting, tatty bedspreads, and overuse of brown and orange. It is a clean and comfortable choice, but there are many places with more character just around the corner. On the plus side, the hotel does have a bar and Thai... more
Doctor's House
78 Soi 4, Seup Siri Rd, Nakhon Ratchasima
One can only imagine how this out-of-the-way spot earned its way into guidebook immortality. A traditional Thai guesthouse, the Doctor's House may be the only of its kind in Khorat, but that's a good thing. Tucked down a small soi, the house does have its charms with plank wood floors and airy... more
