Outstanding budget option

What we say: 4.5 stars

In an area most often frequented by local tourists, Greenleaf is unique in that mainly caters to foreign travellers -- and they do an excellent job of it. Basic budget double rooms are perfect for backpackers looking to see Khao Yai without going broke. All are simply furnished with a double or two twin beds with mosquito nets, fans, private cold water bathrooms, and front porches with tables that are perfect for chatting with the neighbour. Rooms are only offered to those who book tours through Greenleaf, but we talked to several travellers who were very happy with the tour and accommodation, with more than one saying Greenleaf's operators went the extra mile for them in more ways than one. There's a restaurant on site serving large portions of authentic Thai food for cheap, WiFi is free, and taxi service from the bus stop or train station is free if arranged in advance. They'll also taxi you to and from the campground in Khao Yai for free, and help you organize your stay there. This is an especially good option for solo travellers looking to make a few friends. Recommended.
