Phimai Inn
Lousy location but does have a swimming pool

What we say:
Situated two km outside of town, in what is described as New Phimai, Phimai Inn's location leaves something to be desired. Think dusty strip mall beside a major highway. On the plus side, it is a short walk from the main bus station, and there's a surpisingly large swimming pool on-site. Room prices fluctuate according to size, amenities and location but all have a TV, hot shower and western bathroom. Those in the older building are quite worn and dark making those in the new appear even brighter in comparison and well worth the extra baht. The building as a whole is on the run down side, but the staff seem to do a good job of keeping it tidy -- all the rooms we checked were clean and comfortable. Phimai Inn alsooffers the only large family rooms in Phimai with three beds and a living area -- not bad value if you travel in packs. WiFi is free, there's an internet café for 30B per hour, and there's also a decent pool-side restaurant and bar. Non-guests can use the pool for 40 B per day.

Best of a bad bunch
Accommodation options in Phimai are woeful but that helps keep the tourist numbers down which is a plus. This hotel had okay rooms but the place stunk. Think we paid about 450B.
