Rimkhong Guesthouse
Great budget option

What we say:
This little guesthouse is an excellent option for the solo or budget traveller looking to stay near the action but not looking to break the bank to do so. With a view of the river from the front gate, Rimkhong is located right next to very popular Tha Sadej market and promenade, giving it easy access to restaurants, shopping and transport around town. The courtyard garden is quite peaceful, and a great place to catch up on some reading or enjoy the free WiFi. Rooms are decidedly basic, and look every bit the budget price attached to them, though the beds are soft and comfortable, with big fluffy pillows you’ll be tempted to take home with you. Management is friendly if not terribly knowledgeable, and a small selection of food, mostly breakfast, is available at reasonable cost. All in all an excellent option if you’re pinching your pennies.

Just avoid it!
I spent one night 24/2 and paid 220B for a Dbl fan share b'room which had seen very little to no maintenance for a very, very long time. No towel, toilet-paper or water included. A long list of ''not-to-dos''on the inside of the door includes smoking (which isn't allowed at any of the tables in the otherwise quite nice garden either), cocking, or do your own laundry. Another list states the costs of laundry-service to 10-20B/piece of clothing, but no underwear accepted. The bed had a mattress that reminded of a very rough dirt road with sheets and a blanket that definitely hadn't been changed since the last guest before me. The shared b'room was nothing less than disgusting with a clogged basin with all kinds of stuff floating around in it. I heard other guests mention it to staff but nothing seem to happen. Just a genuinely unpleasant experience and i wouldn't stay there again unless i was forced to. There are much, much better options just a few steps away. Khiang Khong GH, for instance, offers spick-and-span Dbl AC rooms with private b'rooms, TV, free WiFi and a nice little balcony for 400B/night (300 for fan). Just go somewhere else...

Cheap but worn
This place is ok if you can live without your creature comforts... they are very worn and the 'matress' I had was made up of three old and very worn large cushions. The bathroom isnt the best either... beware of the mosquitos. Saying that, it is very cheap and the staff and dog are friendly

As said: super sleepy
The rooms are basic but ok. The setting is nice, with garden and riverview. Maybe not the best place to meet people since there is no restaurant so people tend to hang out elsewhere. It is a decent option if Mutmee if full, but you might have to go looking for the staff if you want a room...
