Khung Thong Hotel
Central and cheap

What we say:
This very centrally located hotel is a comfortable, though basic choice. Don't expect bright shining, palacial bathrooms, particularly in the pretty dire fan rooms. Like the Tokyo, the Krung Thong is primarily a cheap hotel for travelling business-people. The staff and management here are friendly, but hardly any English is spoken. There is a Turkey Bath signposted as being next door -- sounds interesting...

The name is Krung Thong
Stayed here a few times during the last years and pretty much liked it. Songthaew Nr.2 takes you all the way from the bus station to the hotel. The air-con rooms cost 450 Baht and most of them have recently been renovated. The fan rooms on 2nd floor are usually not rented away because the girls working the adjacent Turkish bath live in them. Rooms are large, quiet and airy; staff is friendly. There is a very good chicken and rice shop next door; in the evening one has to walk a bit through the darkness to the nearest market or restaurant. Shanti Asoks excellent vegetarian restaurant is in the same street ca. 100m to the east, they are only open for breakfast and lunch. Do not miss it while in Ubon.
