Charoensri Grand Royal Hotel
The flashest digs in town

What we say:
With 255 rooms, the Charoensri Grand Royal is the biggest hotel in Udon and a favourite wth the convention crowd. Very centrally located, this hotel has all the mod cons, with well decorated, spotlessly clean rooms with well-sized bathrooms and firm beds. A minor complaint is the limited selection of tv channels available -- at these rates, you'd expect full cable tv.

OK but not excellent
We stayed here for 2 nights in a Superior room. Paid THB 1600 all incl. on walk in. The room was OK in size and amenities, but it was of rather old design (heavy wooden Thai furniture, walls covered in beige silk). However the room was quite clean although there were some stains on the carpet. The breakfast buffet was big, and it was quite tasty. The location is excellent, close to city night life, supermarkets and train station. They also offer free parking in the basement. Minor drawback though: Internet access costs THB 250 per day, and there is no wired access in the rooms.
