Good spot if you want to be in town
Chiang Mai, Fang Rd (centre of town just before the junction with the cave road), Chiang Dao T: (053) 455 132-3 F: (053) 455 133
One of the few standard hotel-style accommodation choices in Chiang Dao, and conveniently sited in the middle of town, longstanding Chiang Dao Inn isn’t a bad choice.
Reception and the lobby are located in an old teak building on the main street but rooms are in a more modern, pale pink concrete block behind. (Points for not demolishing the old wooden house when they built the new hotel!) Rooms are spacious enough and come with fridge, WiFi, air-con, hot showers and free tea and coffee, but no breakfast. Staff are helpful though not a lot of English is spoken. There’s a very good massage joint across the carpark from reception open 10:00-20:00, and reception also sells bus tickets to Bangkok.
