This is one of the best options in town for basic but clean rooms with a couple of extra amenities at a good price. Friendly and helpful staff administer very clean (very blue) spacious rooms which all have a private bathroom and hot shower. Some have a fridge and tv with a selection of English channels. Downstairs has a garden cafe, and a full service restaurant serving Thai and western food. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, but in the evening during high season only. Long term rates are available. This place is often full, even in the low season. Be sure to call or mail them in advance to reserve a room.

My Favorite in Chiang Mai - 22nd February, 2010
I've stayed at CM Blue several times over the years and will stay there again if I can on my next trip. I particularly like the comfortable, bright, airy rooms (350 baht for a fan double in Dec 2009) and the friendly, relaxing garden. Good breakfasts too. CM Blue is in a great spot, inside the walls of the old city and walking distance to just about everything. The neighborhood is awesome, with heaps of restaurants, bars, internet, laundry, and shopping, including a traditional Thai market at the foot of the street. The gents who run this place are top notch and very well organised. It's popular, so try to book ahead if you can. Highly recommended.

Stayed for two months - 14th January, 2009
My husband and I stayed here from October-November. Tony and Tim are awesome guys who have the perfect laid-back friendly attitude. They helped us numerous times with suggestions and advice while never being pushy. The rooms were all renovated over the two months we stayed there with new mattresses and furniture, so it's quite nice. The rooms are spacious and clean and have everything you need. The staff is full of smiley Thai's and the location is easy walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, and markets. Call ahead, as they are understandably popular.

The best place in town! - 5th February, 2006
As I write this we are still staying at the CM Bluehouse! We have been here two weeks now and we just keep staying. The rooms are very very clean, large and bright, the bathrooms are spotless too and the showers hot. The bed is massive and we are only staying in one of the double fan rooms with private bathroom that cost 250baht a night, it is such good value here! There is a great laundry service and a self service drink service which is handy if you fancy a cup of tea at 3am! Jimmy and the rest of the staff are fantastic, very friendly and full of information. Jimmy gave us great advice when it came to getting new visas and is a wealth of knowledge on Chiang Mai and the area. A genuinely nice bloke and a great guesthouse, really the best in Chaing Mai!

Central & Secluded. Great Place - 15th February, 2010
I had looked this place up on Travelfish before heading out, and it looked like a nice one to stay at, a little expensive for the area at 400 baht per night I had thought, however on seeing the room and the very central, yet secluded location I forgot all about the price.
The room itself was very large with a double bed, fan and small but usable en-suite bathroom, and best of all the room was the first on the site, which meant I was able to come and go as I wished without disturbing the other residents.
CM Blue House has a restaurant that operates on a limited hours basis, but that does not affect the quality of the food on offer from breakfasts with some twists on the staples to an interesting array of lunch options.
The owners Tim & Tony are great guys and are really knowledgeable on the local area and on the various things to do in the surrounding region. Another good point was there being an honour system in operation with regards to a very well stocked fridge of drinks from water right through to beer. Just remember to write what you take in the book for your room.
Location wise it can be found on a soi on the eastern side the old town of Chiang Mai and is about 10 – 20 minutes walk from a lot of the big attractions in town and the main eating area's too.

Nice, friendly and correct - 3rd February, 2010
Twin room is 350 Baht a night, with fan and private bathroom
Correct, friendly and helpful staff. Nice owners (Tim & Tony)
No trust issues, as they let you write down yourself when you need a drink (no service in the bar, so no waiting for it)
Cleanliness could be better, but we've seen way worse. The beds are a bit hard and we didn't like the blankets (so used our sleeping bags).
We are still staying there while writing.

This is our second visit to CM Bluehouse and it's just as great as we remember. Rooms are spacious, very clean and with hot-water ensuites. Tim, Tony and crew make you feel immediately welcome and are so helpful. The communal garden area is an absolute haven. Free wifi is great too!

highly recommended!! - 3rd January, 2009
CM Bluehouse made my brief and hectic stay in ChiangMai a lot less brief and hectic than it could have been. Thanks mostly to the ever-friendly and helpful Tim and Tony, as well as the excellent location (just off Moon Muang), the clean and comfortable rooms and the gorgeous outdoor garden/bar setting.
I'm not sure if they take bookings online, but i simply called two days before and managed to get a room in the middle of Loy Kratong.

too pricey for what it DIDN''T offer - 4th August, 2008
Was there last month during low season. They charged 300 baht for a decent sized room that had no blankets (even a top sheet) and dirty towels. Although, they changed as soon as I asked for some clean towels. They offer the most basics which is fine, but for the same price I could have gotten more from another place. I did move to another guesthouse that offered more for a cheaper price.
The lady who runs the office is very sweet and their breakfast is fantastic. I would go back there for breakfast but would not stay there again.

Not very clean ... overpriced - 5th July, 2008
We stayed one night at CM Blue House, though we had reserved five. The elves on the dirty, thin, bedsheets were our first indication to get out! There was nothing particularly horrible about CM Blue House. It's just that there are better, and less expensive guest houses in Chaing Mai (try Lamphu House). It was not very clean and had no atmosphere.

Bad Booking - 2nd May, 2008
I am in agreement with ''bell's'' comments below. I didn't get to stay here because their registration/booking/office practices are extremely poor. From the other comments I'm sure it's a great place to stay IF you can get a room. But know that there are a LOT more choices of guesthouses in Chiang Mai than the internet leads you to believe.
I reserved a room online with them a few days before my arrival. Upon arrival mid-day there were no staff to be found! The office was locked up and two guests were sitting outside and told me the lady had gone to get a beer a while ago and hadn't come back. I stayed at another guesthouse that night (M.D. Guesthouse = VERY nice, slightly more expensive but nice rooms with tv, air con, FREE internet, and nice pool outside. popular with a more clean-cut young crowd).
Returned to CM Bluehouse the next day to say they received my reservation but they didn't have a room for me. The lady was not helpful nor pleasant. She didn't seem to care whether they had a room for me or not. They told me to check back the next day. I didn't have time to keep checking back each day so I stayed elsewhere.

Great Base in Chiang Mia - 6th January, 2008
This was one of our favorite GH's in Thailand. The owners make an effort to get to know you and assist in anyway possible whether it be settling in early morning after the 14 hr bus ride from Bangkok to booking treks up north and discovering the local area. The rooms are clean and above average for the amount you pay. Through CM we booked a 1 day trek and scooter hire. There is a restaurant and bar here however it is not always manned especially in the evening. Great service received here and I would recommend to anyone staying in Chiang Mia on a budget!

Last year we stayed in The Blue House, this year we went back, because we want Jimmy to organize some nice trips for us again, but someone from the staff told us that Jimmy don’t work there anymore, since beginning November 2007 he starts working in The Chiang Mai WHITE HOUSE, at Ratchadumnernroad soi 5.
If you need Jimmy you must go to there or you can call him +66-819604629.

So good we returned to it! - 18th May, 2007
We checked in here and had a great room - air con, fridge (very welcome), bathroom etc. Made the mistake of being lured away to another guesthouse with a pool (SK) which turned out to be horrible & dirty, so returned to Blue House where they welcomed us back to another lovely room. Would definitely stay there if we go back to Chiang Mai.

AWFUL GUESTHOUSE - 30th March, 2007
Booked a room with jimmy by phone, when we turned up a lady told me I didn't have a room for the 3 days I needed it, but I could have a room for 1 day but would have to vacate as it had been booked already, I explained I had booked already with Jimmy and was told Jimmy did not know what he was doing. I went and found another room on soi 7 one lane away at the Sri Pat guesthouse. Much nicer room, clean newly tiled room and bathroom for the same price with cheap mini bar(5 bt more than the 7 11. Would advise avoiding this place as they seem to over book and hope you fill their gaps. There is a lot more choice in Chaing Mai than you think.

....since it was as good as everyone says. Arrived before check-in time, room was immediately cleaned (while we had breakfast) so that we could move in. Staff very friendly and easy going, not pushy in regards to tours at all (we booked cooking class, 3 day hill tribe treck and trip to highest mountain trough Jimmy, who also organised our taxi to the airport for 5am). Would stay there again. Rooms have got a decent size with plenty of storage facilities.

Very nice place - 19th February, 2007
Spent two nights there in February convinced by the many positive comments I found here on Travelfish. CM Blue House is indeed a very nice spot: staff are very friendly and helpful: I got there at the very inconvenient time of 5am and still I was received with kindness and even given an empty room where to crash until normal morning time as my room wasn't free yet.
The room itself is basic, but bigger than average, with a wardrobe, big bed, fridge and cable tv. Plus bathroom with hot shower (I paid 350B for it). It's located in the north-eastern corner of the old town, it's quiet at night, but still everything is within walking distance.
Restaurant provided very good breakfasts (haven't had the chance to try other meals).
Overall a very pleasant place which I surely recommend.

We stayed in CM Blue House in late October. It is well located, spacious, quiet, clean and very good value for money. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Also not pushy with tours - in fact, they were not mentioned until we asked about them. Definitely stay here. Also, make sure you say Soi 6 as well as Moon Muang Rd otherwise you will not be able to find it. Perhaps Travelfish can add this to the address.

bloody good value for money! - 26th October, 2006
We loved the place. Fed on the positive reviews, I was a bit ready to be disappointed, but no sir- the rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. The garden cafe below is very pleasant- would have actually liked to spend more time there!
Tim & Tony are friendly and nice to talk to, and Jimmy (who runs it) is very friendly and helpful. Not at all pushy, but helps is you need it. We used his Mr beer for bike rental and mr Whisky for a day-trek- both of which were just fine. the bike was in very good condition too. Really liked the place, and there's no question its where we will stay when (when??) we return.....sigh...

Wonderful GH - 27th July, 2006
Stayed at the CM Blue House for 4 nites and we really enjoyed ourselves. We choose the CM Blue House due to the wonderful fedback from Travelfish. Tim & Tony would answer any questions abt the GH thro email. It's a pity we didnt get a chance to meet up with them cos they were away in US. Clean, quiet esp a nice garden with a waterfall. There is also a balcony with a water tap in every room. The rooms have ''natural Aircon'' as Jimmy puts it.Abt 5 mins walk to the Sunday Market which is the best place to eat n shop in Changmai. We could walk to Tha Pae Gate, Warorot Market and the Night Bazaar as well. Tell the Taxi man that you are going to Tha Pae Gate, Moon Muang Road, Sol 6. You would have to walk a short distance cos the morning market has blocked up this lane. But if you come thro Sol 7, you would be at the back gate of the CM Blue House. A special thanks to Jimmy, Rin and the staff for making our stay so memorable.I highly recommend this place to all my friends n relatives and look forward to stay at the CM Blue House again. We stayed at CM Blue House on 17,18 & 21 Jun'06. Everywhere about the place was very clean, the airconditioning was excellent, we could still have the option of switching on the wall fan while waiting for the airconditioning to cool the room. The tv had a wide variety of channels, the fridge was big and pretty new, the room was spacious and the bed huge. Our room was free of mosquitoes and ants. The quiet environment also ensured that we were well-rested for the next day! Excellent value and excellent service!

I have stayed at CM Blue House and can confirm that they reply to altr2003@yahoo.com
Apparently a website is being worked on as we speak, and these guys definitely need one as this is one of the best places we've stayed in Thailand.
It's run by 2 guys from Hawaii who have only had the place 3 months, but we had a brilliant stay.
The room was spotless, cheap and Tim and Tony were always happy to help out with anything. They put films on at the bar most days and we ate breakfast lunch and dinner there. Also, the fidge isnt just a tiny little ankle high thing, its a chest high one!!!! A rarity!
Superb place, highly recommend.
The taxi driver might drop you on the main road (Moon Muang) but just keep walking down soi 6 for 3 minutes and you'll find it!
