Description
This is one of Chiang Mai's most unique and lovely hotel, with low-rise, whitewashed rooms built around a 320-year-old tamarind tree and a restaurant by the pool. Room service is prompt and professional but the restaurant service is appalling -- the only blight on what is otherwise an outstanding hotel. Rooms are very tastefully decorated, though a lack of attention to a few small details -- the exposed ubiquitous blue pipes in bathrooms, for instance -- detracts from what is otherwise a gorgeous place. Often full, reservations are highly recommended. Substantial discounts on the rack rates (listed below) are often available, making this an outstanding choice for a splurge.

Charming indeed, and quite comfortable, nice pool and great location. We found excellent rates on the web (US$37), making our stay at Tamarind Village an exceptionally good value. They offer one of the best breakfast buffets we had on our trip.
