Tamarind Village Hotel

Famous boutique hotel

What we say: 4.5 stars

Tamarind Village is a very popular downtown boutique hotel located on Ratchadamnoen — the Sunday Walking Street -- in the heart of the Old City. The Lanna style whitewashed buildings set around a 320-year-old tamarind tree are sited well off the road, so they're quiet and very tastefully laid out with a lovely pool and restaurant area. Service is helpful and friendly and their restaurant is good. Tamarind works out at roughly the equivalent of a four-star rather than five-star joint so below prices are not cheap, but discounts on printed rates are often available in the low season. Note that quoted rates do not include either 10% tax or breakfast, which is 400 baht extra. Nevertheless, this is a very popular spot and often full, which explains their high rates somewhat. This may be worth a splurge in the low season but it's not great value for money during the high season.
