Manathai Village was our clear favourite in this area in the upmarket range and indeed this was one of the best looking hotels in the four-star-ish bracket that we found in any part of Chiang Mai. It's not large but is very well laid out, with lots of pools, stepping stones, lush vegetation and enticing sitting areas in their swimming pool, garden and bar area — it was good to see those separate elements so well integrated. In line with their rates, rooms were very tastefully decorated and well appointed, and staff were efficient and charming. This is a quiet yet central location, so if you wanted to splash a bit of cash this is a good choice. Only one room type is available, and rooms include American breakfast.
