Rose Guest House
Basic but popular with backpackers
87 Ratchamankha Rd, Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai Province
Tel: (053) 273 869
Description
Set atop the Jungle Corner Bar, the rooms here are very basic with paper-thin walls guaranteeing ample eavesdropping opportunities -- light sleepers you've been warned. Rooftop beds are a cheap alternative for when all the guesthouses are full. The view from their rooftop seating area covers a large portion of Chiang Mai, and on good days you can see clear out to the mountains, making it a great spot to sit and catch the breeze in the evenings. The downstairs restaurant serves a good breakfast (90B) and all food comes as a decent portion. The friendly staff show all the big sporting events on their large screen TV. Popular in particular with British and Australian backpackers.

Shoddy rooms, dirty bathrooms - ![]()

I landed here for a night after Julie GH messed up my reservation. For 180B, I got a single with a shared bathroom; the furniture was old, there were too many ants in the rooms, and a dead lizard graced the floor of one of the shared bathrooms for over a day. Shared facilities were not terribly clean and needed maintenance, and the rooms could have used some renovation. Decent place to watch a bit of football, but there are much better guesthouses just a short walk away.

Actually, it is not Canadian, but German management. I haven't stayed in the guesthouse, i've only been to the restaurant quite a few time for breakfast and the food is great! There's a touroperator as well and i've booked a 3 days trekking through them, had a great time and one of the better trekkings (if i compare my story to others). Recommended!

Nice Place Tour and Travel 2
