What we say:

We were a bit shocked when we saw the rooms — then heard the price — at this fairly run-of-the-mill hotel in the centre of town. Located right on the main road and easy to spot, Thung Tong has clean but generic hotel-style rooms, all with air-con, TV and unexpectedly big bathrooms and beds. Staff are friendly but don't expect much English, so while you shouldn't expect any great conversation or travel tips, they do understand enough to get you into a room. Ask for a room on the third floor (chan sarm in Thai) for a beautiful view of the valley below. Though these are not the best digs in town, they certainly offer good value, and are a reasonable choice for those who simply must have air-con, or can't be bothered to hunt around the sois and sidestreets of Tha Ton looking for an affordable air-con room.
