Maesalong Resort
Great views

What we say:
Set up on the hillside behind Mae Salong proper, Maesalong Resort is at the end of a long steep road that winds up from the centre of town and returns near Shin Sane Guesthouse. While the resort has a range of rooms, the best value are large green bungalows nestled in a pine groove overlooking town. Both the rooms and their balconies are spacious and while the bed is just a mattress on the floor, it is adequate. There are more expensive and plusher options on the hill behind the resort office. The main disadvantage of staying here is the steep walk from town.

Fantastic view from top
Initialy we wanted to stay at the much talk about shinshane GH. But it was christmas and rooms at SS was full. So we rode up the hill behind Shinshane, no problem for us as we travelled on motorbikes. Had them on 1st gear for some steep inline. The Mae Salong Resort has fantastic view of the city. Location is perfect to unwind yourself. Sitting on the balconies, drink juice and have a cigarete,.. ah! that's what life is all about. The cool atmosphere, esp in december, you need to have your jackets on at night. The green bungalows has mattress enough for 3 persons, on a slightly upraised floor. A TV and hot shower. But who would need a tv for anyway. Initialy, cost was 500 bh, but we bargain for 400bh. It was worth the money. The management speaks limited english.
