Description
The Mai Sai Guesthouse is a very friendly, family run guesthouse with a bunch of wooden bungalows set around a riverside garden and restaurant. The restaurant is well appointed and comfortable with some traveller information on the walls. The bungalows are cute and comfortable with simple amenities. Mai Sai Guesthouse is right at the end of the riverside road -- to get there take the laneway that runs behind Mai Sai Riverside Guesthouse.

it was cheap, 200b for a clean simple room. the shower was kind of outdoors but very warm(ahhhh gas water heaters). the girl was helpful and nice.

i'll prob stay here again.

i had read good reviews and wanted to stay here but couldn't find directions or a map of Mae Sae for the life of me. for anyone that wants to go; directions to Mae Sai Guesthouse, from the bus station take the seung thaew for 10b all the way to the border gate. go to the left or the gate and into the long shopping street that goes left. its about a 10 walk. there are a few forks, keep going right. after a few minutes you see signs.

Great budget choice -

The young lady who does most everything from showing you the bungalows to dishing up your chow, is very friendly and service-oriented. We ate all our meals there and though the food wasn't cordon-bleu stuff, we were satisfied with what we ordered. The reason my rating's a bit low is because of an ugly incident that completely freaked us and kept us up all night. My partner and I were in bed, talking at about 11pm when I happened to notice a person peeping into our window. He assumed we couldn't see him and was, I suspect, trying to get an eyeful of action (that wasn't available in our case). He only ran when we shouted at him. A talk with the owner the next morning revealed that it could only have been the security guard!!! So much for keeping the place safe! Couples, be sure to close all windows, especially those right on the porch.

Cute spot -

This spot is really cute. Stayed in the bungalow right on the river. Had to pay 500bt. A bit of a walk into town, but great riverside location, friendly and helpful staff. Very basic, small, fan room w/ great porch. Would stay again and recommend if budget is not too tight.

King Kobra Guesthouse
South side of riverside road, Mai Sai
King Kobra is but a shade of its former self -- the rooms are only passable value and, when compared to the two riverside options further down this same road, are quite... more

Mai Side Riverside Guesthouse
Riverside road, Mai Sai
If the Mai Sai Guesthouse is full, this is a good second choice. Mai Sai Riverside Guesthouse has loads of concrete rooms stacked up on the riverbank. Near the water there is a spacious and very clean restaurant with great views over Tachileik on the Burmese side of the river. This is a friendly... more
