What we say: 4.5 stars

Banfarang Guesthouse offers accommodation ranging from 24-bed dorms through to deluxe wooden chalets. The property has both chalets and small three- or four-room blocks all set in a delightfully laid out and well maintained garden overlooking a wooded valley. Both rooms and chalets come in standard (fan-cooled) and deluxe (air-con) versions, with the standard chalets being a particularly good deal, since you don’t often need air-con in Khun Yuam anyway. A small but decent restaurant is on site and all rooms are well kept, comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated, with Lanna artwork brightening walls both inside and out.

The dorm sleeps up to 24 people, so there should usually be room -- or rent the entire dorm for 2,400 baht a night. ‘Economic’ and standard rooms are both fan-cooled with en suite bathrooms and hot water, with standards also having TV. VIP chalets come with air-con, en suite bathroom, fridge, TV and balcony.

Staff are friendly and helpful, with reasonable levels on English spoken, so all in all this is an excellent spot to break up your journey, whichever direction you're travelling.

Below are high season rates; there are no published low season rates but they state discounts of up to 50% are available depending upon occupancy. Breakfast is not included and costs an extra 100 baht per person (optionally).
