Piya Guest House
1/1 Khunlumphrapat Soi 3, Mae Hong Son
Piya Guest House is set in a top spot across the road from Mae Hong Son's lake right in the centre of town. It has very clean, heavily furnished rooms -- many have TVs and all come with air-con. The bathrooms are particularly cute. Ask for one of the big double rooms as they're the same price as... more
Ampa House
3 Padungmuayto Rd, Mae Hong Son
From the outside Ampa House is rather nondescript but the rooms are very well kept and each has a private bathroom with hot shower. For the extra 50 baht a night, it's worth booking the room upstairs, which is quite a bit larger. The in-house restaurant does very reasonably priced Thai and western... more
Friend House
20 Phaditchongkam Rd, Mae Hong Son
Friend House has a variety of relatively clean rooms in a large teak and cement building. There is a small restaurant out back which has no ambiance whatsoever, but serves a few breakfast dishes. The rooms near said restaurant catch a bit of racket, so the upstairs rooms are the better choice.... more
Jongkham Guest House
Udomchawnithet Rd, Mae Hong Son
Jongkham offers bungalows and rooms in a pleasant garden near the lake and while the guesthouse actually backs on to Jongkham Lake, there is no direct access. However a small communal balcony gives clear views. The bungalows are bamboo and badly in need of repair, but the rooms in the main building... more
Rom Tai House
22 Chumnansatit Rd, Mae Hong Son
Just around the corner from the lake, staff at Rom Tai are helpful and speak good English. Rooms are large, clean and new, and while bathrooms have a little built up grime that could do with a good scrub, they are better than most. A TV occasionally shows English programs if you're lucky enough to... more
Joe Guest House
3 Chamnansathit Rd, Mae Hong Son
Jo Guest House is squeezed in behind the lake and adjacent to the Wat in the grounds of an old family teak house. Unfortunately the rooms are not in the house but in a thin row-house which is wedged into the space behind the house. They are not particularly cosy and certainly not private. The large... more
Johnnie House
5/1 Udomchawnitech Rd Mae Hong Son
Johnnie House is located next to the lake, but unfortunately, there's no lake access -- you'll have to walk about two blocks to get to it. The guesthouse part is out the back of a private house and comprises well built rooms in a wooden longhouse. Unlike most other places in this price range you... more
Prince's Guesthouse
38/1 Udomchanitech Rd, Mae Hong Son
The wooden rooms at Prince's Guesthouse are large and bare and those in the rear concrete building are not so big. Most share bathrooms, which have hot showers and a choice of western or squat toilet. Like others on this street, Princes backs on to the Lake and with this one there is direct access... more
Panglor Villa
13/3 Soi 4 Panglor Nikom Rd, Mae Hong Son
At Panglor Villa, the rooms are in a large cement house and are cool and spacious, with a choice of fan or air-con, and TVs with an English movie channel. All are very clean and have private bathrooms with hot shower. This is a good choice for people wanting something decent on a budget and don't... more
Siam Hotel
Mae Hong Son
Very old fashioned, Siam Hotel is hardly going to set the world on fire with innovative decor ideas. Nevertheless, rooms are good value for clean, basic amenities. Choose between fan or air-con -- the latter have hot showers, while most fan rooms have cold showers only. Rooms are serviced daily... more
Mae Hong Son Hotel
Mae Hong Son
With hardly a customer, it's hard to tell whether Mae Hong Son Hotel is still open for business. Overgrown foliage hides a large white concrete building in the traditional 'ugly hotel' style. Rooms are generally large and clean, with a TV showing Thai-language programs and a bathroom with hot... more
