Description
Newly established, this friendly place is run by the delightful 'Annie', who laughs and chats with her guests, takes them tubing every day, and parties around the campfire by the river at night. Accommodation is generally of a slightly higher standard than the usual riverside bamboo shack (although the floors can be a little unstable) as they have cold shower/squat toilet bathrooms inside. Balconies have hammocks for relaxing in. There is also a collection of basic rooms with no facilities, but the shared bathrooms have hot showers. A couple of larger wooden bungalows are on offer for those in a group or looking for something more, and hammocks or open air mattresses in the restaurant, for those looking for a little less. All surround a large open grassy field, which leads down to the river.

This GH has moved -
By nzpunter ( total comments: 1  More information please ) Stayed here 6/2007
The original darling GH was washed away in a flood in 2005. But Anne is back with a bigger better version in a new location.

Bungalows have a deck with hammocks. Theres a huge common area with cushions, hammocks and a great view over the valley.

The new location is on the road to Treehouse.

Or walk over the bamboo bridge, spot the blue roofed house on the hill and aim for that. (its next door)

200b gets you private double bungalow w bathroom.

Anne is lovely! and this is a top spot. you will stay longer.

Baan Tawan Guesthouse
117 Moo 4, Pai
A great garden area, lined with dark teak wood bungalows and a big old teak house, leads down to a quiet riverside sala and lounging area. Accommodation is simple but charming, with a wide choice of bungalow styles and sizes, all with bathrooms with hot showers. Larger bungalows have balconies, the... more

Family Hut
Over the Pai River
Across a perilous bamboo bridge over the River Pai, Family Hut is one of a few basic bamboo-hut guesthouses which are very popular with backpackers although not particularly special. A restaurant provides a pleasant chill out area beside the river. Most of their accommodation is a standard... more

Pai Lanna
169 Moo 1, Maehee, Pai
Pai Lanna is a pleasant place, with an awesome restaurant which provides killer views over the rice terraces. The rooms, however clean and new as they are, are seriously overpriced. Thatched bamboo used to be the formula for cheap huts; nowadays they call it Lanna style and double the price. The... more

Misty Bungalows
Near the river, Pai
This place has 15 no-nonsense bungalows, all with shared facilities. They're basic A frames, but larger than the 'usual suspects', with a pleasant double door which lets in plenty of ventilation. The rooms are circled around a central sala which has a few hammocks strung up, a good place to relax... more

To My Friends
East of the Pai River, 187 Moo1, Tambon Maehee
To My Friends is run by the likeable Ball and his Japanese girlfriend Moji. Their set-up contains only eight huts, some with en suite bathroom and some shared. The huts are basic bamboo and wood constructions, but there are nice touches in terms of the design, particularly the open air shower and... more
