Unicorn Guesthouse and Resort
Upmarket at mid-range price

What we say:
A stay at a nicely decorated wooden chalet at this relatively new guesthouse boasting a well-cared for garden includes swimming pool, WiFi and free sauna. It's quite a small setting but good use of space means it doesn't look too cramped and still allows room for a decent sized pool in the middle. Chalets are well appointed and there's a choice of air-con or fan (otherwise they're identical). A couple of larger family chalets are available. A roadside cafe serves basic fare and has WiFi plus computers, but rooms are far enough off the road avoid too many noise problems.

Great pool, basic bungalows
I'm sat in a Unicorn Guesthouse bungalow as I write this. The guesthouse is set in a pleasant area, just outside of the main strip, but close enough to the bars and restaurants. The bungalow is basic, even though it comes with all mod cons - wifi, TV, air con (and fan) and a fridge. If it was given a bit of a make-over, particularly the bathroom, then this place would be a gem. The real selling point of the Unicorn is it's pool. We've had it to ourselves these past few days. Just great. At 380 baht a night it's pretty good value - possibly due to how quiet Pai is at the moment. If you're not bothered about a pool then stay somewhere else. But overall, a perfectly decent place for the money.
