Heading along the riverbank from Baan Pai Riverside is a string of cheap guesthouses, Pai Country, Family Hut, Pai Riverview and so on. The first is our favourite while among the second row of guesthouses set back from the river this one is our recommendation, along with Twin Hut. Still a mere stone's throw from the river, it is set back in a very cute garden with simple but nice wooden chalets arranged around the edge. Only a dozen or so chalets are on offer, but with a choice of shared or en suite bathroom. Again if the garden is well cared for, it's a good sign for the chalets. Low season rates are a good deal.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.
