Pai Chan Cottage
Top spot!

What we say:
Pai Chan is such a good spot but with only a few chalets it means that even in low season it can be full. Set just on top of the embankment, overlooking paddy fields behind and across the valley to Pai in front, it's a short walk from the bridge and access to the delights of Pai town. A very tastefully decorated restaurant and chalets set in a superb garden with a pool will make you immediately reach for your camera. Very pretty without being twee or over the top. Chalets are scattered randomly instead of being in rows for a change, and are well constructed using a mixture of modern and traditional materials, including teak floors and striking thatched roofs. Choose between smaller, single chalets, twin/doubles and one larger family chalet, all superbly decorated and with hot water en suite bathrooms and small balconies. Staff are helpful and friendly, the food is excellent, they have free WiFi and their rates are pretty low. Must be a catch somewhere but we couldn't find it. Make sure you call plenty of time in advance, even in low season.

A great memory.
This was one of the most beautiful places i have stayed. We were five people and got two adjoining rooms with shared bathroom for 700B/night. The pool was the highlight of this place, something that is rare with budget accommodation. The food and drink were decent too and views over the rice paddies from the communal, hammocked chill zone was the best. I think this place is a real find, slightly out of Pai's centre, it is perfect if you hire a scooter and feel like a little bit of seclusion, but still an easy walk too.
