Description
Preferring a basic, natural environment, the Thai/English managers have set Lisu Mountain a long way up a treacherous path in a small Lisu mountain-top village. Difficult to find, one side looks down on a serene lake, the other side views the local village the guesthouse is part of. Pre-erected tents with beds and blankets are warmer at night in the cold season, and cheaper than their bungalow equivalents. These are traditionally built Lisu style and have shared bathrooms. The teak bar and restaurant area has hammocks and a television, serving a selection of Thai dishes and international treats like toasted sandwiches and baked potatoes. When there is a group of people, they put on a buffet dinner. They can organise local Lisu guides to take you on walks in the area, or through newly discovered caves. Best to ring ahead before visiting to be sure of a room, or drop by their bar, the Border Bar, in Soppong town. Closed in low season. See their website for information on motorbike tours they run.

Charming Home
Soppong
On large dry land which gets muddy in the wet season, and with a stream running past at the base, this is indeed a charming home.
